This special annual Le Marche event takes place from 8-18 August 2013 immerses the visitor into medieval life in a historic fortified village. It starts in a cave; where the visitor changes their Euros into the Sarnano denari or special money, needed for spending throughout this wonderful Le Marche Festa at market stalls and the five taverns and bars
A Le Marche festa of historic culture and crafts.
The Castrum Sarnani festa in Sarnano, Macerata, Marche, Italy has its main events from 10-13 August inclusive, and there is a medieval banquet at Taverna della Luna every night from 8th to 18th August.
Meander along narrow candlelit streets of the medieval village, brought to life through music, dancers, fire eaters, sword fighting, flag throwers, storytellers, strange characters of the time, entertainment on stilts and juggling. Tourists will witness artisans performing ancient crafts , these include an armourer, a paper maker, the candle maker, herbalist, carpenter, goldsmith, stonemason, surgeon, dyeing, cartographer, astronomer, blacksmith, anarchitect and many others.
Le Marche feasting and drinking- medieval style
The route of this historic Marche winds through the streets until you reach Piazza Alta; where throughout this event there will be street theatre and shows. The visitor can choose to eat in the Tavern of the Moon, for a full meal, or stop in taverns located along the route, where you can enjoy a quick snack or sip a glass of strong drink or ippocrasso served as industrious monks.
A Marche Festa for children
From 6pm every evening there will be a kids camp at Piazza Alta where they have the opportunity to wear medieval clothing, watch demonstrations of sword fighting, take part in games, listen to medieval stories and join in a treasure hunt.
Taverna della Luna
Historic restaurant and pageant. Open every Summer for 30 years now, the “Tavern of the Moon”, offers alfresco dining on the panoramic balcony, below the majestic Palazzo del Popolo.
The tavern, as usual, serves typical food of medieval times. No detail is left to chance: the use of ingredients from the Middle ages, the use of plates and glasses in terracotta, and the service in period costume, everything is carefully thought through to bring to life an authentic flavour of Medieval life in Sarnano.
Diners will be delighted by the performances of belly dancing and juggling, from the skillful and daring fire eaters, stilt walkers from reckless that the pace of theme music will perform in “performance” by the high emotional impact.
